Company encourages local businesses to approach cyber security proactively to limit cyber risks for the upcoming G-20 Summit
Omaha, Neb., September 9, 2009 - Solutionary, an information security company, has issued an advisory of precautionary security measures for Pittsburgh-area businesses to help them prepare for security risks that the upcoming G-20 Summit may present. The Summit is being held September 24 - 25 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh.
Preparations for the G-20 Summit are underway in Pittsburgh to ensure the safety and security of area residents and businesses as well as attendees of the event. For businesses, cyber security is a vital part of this and cannot be overlooked," said Steve Idelman, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Solutionary. "Cyber attacks have become an increasingly attractive option - the targeted email attacks on the UK government during the London G-20 Summit in April are a perfect example of this. Pittsburgh businesses must tackle cyber security proactively now, rather than responding to attacks as they happen, to ensure their businesses and assets are as safe as possible.
Solutionary's information and cyber security experts recommend Pittsburgh-area businesses take the below security precautions, at a minimum, leading up to the G-20 Summit:
- Turn off wireless networks to ensure hackers cannot infiltrate the network
- Increase intrusion detection monitoring so any breaches can be caught quickly
- Closely monitor websites as they may be targeted for defacement
- Back up all corporate data
- Back up individual PCs
