Organizations gain operational efficiencies with Solutionary’s ActiveGuard Virtual Appliance
OMAHA, NE, August 29, 2011 – Solutionary, Inc., a leading managed security services provider, today announced the availability of ActiveGuard® Virtual Appliance, an Open Virtualization Format (OVF) image that organizations of any size and industry can quickly and easily deploy into virtual environments. The ActiveGuard Virtual Appliance gives organizations the ability to take advantage of the benefits of virtualization and cloud computing without compromising the business needs for security and compliance.
The ActiveGuard Virtual Appliance enables Solutionary security services in virtual environments, providing log and alert event collection, IDS, APT detection and vulnerability scanning capabilities. In addition, the appliance leverages Solutionary’s expertise and years of experience enabling passive and active log and alert collection from the most popular platforms, software and security technologies. Combining best-of-breed tools with Solutionary’s proprietary technology and infrastructure, the solution enables Solutionary to deliver a variety of security services to protect both physical and virtual environments.
The virtual appliance enables Solutionary’s Virtualization Monitoring service, providing the in-depth log gathering, analysis and correlation necessary to prove that access and change management controls are in place and not being compromised within the virtual environment. Current support of VMware® and Xen® will be expanded in the future to include Microsoft® Hyper-V™ Server. By integrating logs from VMware vCenter, vShield and vSphere and Xen XAPI, Open vSwitch and Xen® hypervisor with user identity, Solutionary can discover unauthorized and privileged user access and configuration changes.
“Virtualization of IT and the cloud services it enables is fundamentally changing the way organizations do computing,” said Don Gray, chief security strategist for Solutionary. “Our customers count on us to be able to meet their visibility, security and compliance needs regardless of implementation details, and the ActiveGuard Virtual Appliance ensures we can do so in a virtualized environment. It provides an easy-to-deploy option for log collection, virtual network IDS and vulnerability scanning.”
The ActiveGuard Virtual Appliance is part of the family of ActiveGuard customer-premise appliances that include the ActiveGuard Analyzer, Examiner and Scanner. These appliances work in conjunction with the cloud-based ActiveGuard service platform to gather, analyze, correlate and escalate log and alert information from network devices, security solutions, endpoints, applications and databases into actionable intelligence. These capabilities enable Solutionary Cloud Security Services as well as traditional Managed Security Services to protect client data no matter where it resides.
Solutionary will be exhibiting in booth 331 at VMworld with its partner SHI, a $3 billion+ global provider of information technology products and services.
